Below are answers to some of the most common questions to help you prepare for and maintain your tan! General Questions: 1. When should I book my tan? For the best results, we recommend scheduling your spray tan 1 day before your vacation to ensure the tan lasts throughout your trip. For weddings, special events, or photoshoots, it’s best to book your tan 2 days prior so the color has time to fully develop and settle into a natural shade. If you’re preparing for a wedding or other special event, we suggest booking a trial tan at least two weeks in advance to ensure you get the perfect color. 2. How do I prep for my spray tan? Proper preparation is key to achieving a flawless, long-lasting tan. Exfoliate your entire body at least 24 hours before your appointment using a non-oil-based exfoliant and mitt to remove dead skin cells. If you need to shave or wax, do so at least 24 hours beforehand to allow your pores to close. Avoid applying lotions, deodorant, perfume, or makeup on the day of your appointment, as these can create a barrier and affect how the tan develops. It’s also important not to shower right before your spray tan, as this can leave your skin too hydrated, preventing the solution from absorbing properly. If you need to shower before your appointment, make sure it’s at least a few hours prior—do a quick rinse with warm water only, no soap. 3. What should I wear to my spray tan? We recommend wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing and flip-flops to your appointment. Tight clothing can cause streaks or uneven development. During the session, you may wear whatever you feel comfortable in! 4. Will the tan stain my clothes, sheets, couch, or other fabrics? Before your first rinse, the bronzer can transfer to fabrics, including clothing, sheets, and furniture, but this is temporary. Once rinsed, the risk of transfer is minimal. To prevent stains, wear dark, loose clothing, sleep in long pajamas, and sit on a towel if you have light-colored furniture or leather car seats, as leather can absorb bronzer. Any transfer should wash out in the laundry. 5. Are spray tans safe during pregnancy or while nursing? Spray tanning is generally considered safe during pregnancy and while nursing, but we always recommend consulting with your doctor first. For extra precaution, we offer nose plugs and masks to wear during your session. If you are nursing, nipple pasties are required, and we provide them for you. 6. Will I turn orange? No! Our solutions are customized to match your individual skin tone and desired level of color. Whether you're looking for a light glow or a deeper tan, we ensure you achieve a natural, sun-kissed look without any orange undertones. 7. Can I still get a natural sun tan or sunburn with a spray tan? While a spray tan gives you a beautiful sun-kissed look without the harmful UV exposure, it does not protect your skin from sunburn. You can still tan naturally in the sun after getting a spray tan, but it’s important to remember that your spray tan doesn’t provide any UV protection. To protect your skin from sunburn, always apply sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection (SPF 30 or higher) before spending time in the sun. 8. How to Make Your Spray Tan Last as Long as Possible To make your spray tan last as long as possible, it’s important to keep your skin moisturized and avoid activities that may cause excessive exfoliation. Hydrate your skin regularly with an oil-free lotion, and try to avoid hot showers, harsh soaps, and scrubbing your skin. Gentle care will help your tan fade evenly and keep your glow intact longer.
